In South Kensington, one of London's most iconic neighborhoods, Atelier ARS has designed the interior of a traditional Victorian townhouse, now reinvented to welcome a cosmopolitan family passionate about art, travel, and lived experiences. The challenge was clear: to respect the heritage while giving voice to a free, vibrant, and deeply personal aesthetic.
Long-standing clients of our Atelier, this family lives the space with sensitivity and boldness. The project was therefore designed as an extension of that identity: a house with character, where the unexpected takes place, and where every object tells a story. More than following trends, it was about creating a place with soul — dense, plural, and coherent.
The intervention respected the original elements of Victorian architecture but introduced contemporary gestures that amplify the personality of the space. The classic and the modern coexist naturally, in a subtle balance between structure and emotion, order and surprise.
Art plays a leading role throughout the project. Painting, sculpture, ceramics, and photography are present in every room—sometimes discreetly integrated, sometimes occupying entire walls. The curation was carefully planned by Atelier ARS: each piece influences materials, textures, and colors, guiding the design of the spaces and creating unexpected visual rhythms.
In this project, true luxury lies in authenticity: in the contrasts, in the beautiful imperfection of objects with history, in the freedom to cross times and geographies. A house that is lived as a gallery, with soul and truth.
